Our Dog Whisperer Watercollar is designed to hang somewhat loosely from your dog’s own collar, and it does not apply pressure to the dog’s neck or windpipe. Yes. Simply thread your dog’s own collar through the six loops of The Dog Whisperer Watercollar. Secure the dog’s own collar, making ABSOLUTELY SURE it cannot slip off over his head. If, for some reason, you wish to use a harness INSTEAD of a regular dog collar, perhaps to have a convenient handle, please know that the safety of our Watercollar is not assured unless the Watercollar is securely and correctly attached to your dog using his own collar.

Your dog can wear The Dog Whisperer Watercollar all day, every day. The Watercollar is an extension of his own collar. His collar is simply threaded through the loops of the Watercollar and the Watercollar hangs somewhat loosely around his neck. The Watercollar is almost weightless and is filled with non-absorbent, closed-cell foam. It is non-restrictive to the dog’s movements and activities, and he will be cool wearing it, even on the hottest days.

Yes, it can. The Dog Whisperer Watercollar was designed as a teaching tool, as well as for drown-prevention. The buoyancy of the Watercollar under his chin helps give your pet the confidence he needs to become less afraid — even comfortable in the water. As his fear of the water and of drowning dissipates, he should be able to focus on your commands and begin to enjoy swimming.

Believe it or not, some dogs just do not know how to swim! If your dog has tried swimming and doesn’t like it or is deathly afraid of the water, The Dog Whisperer Watercollar will give him the confidence he needs. We suggest that you introduce the Watercollar to him on dry land for a couple of days, maybe even let him ride in the car wearing the Watercollar, and YES, they can even sleep in them. When he seems comfy in his Watercollar, slowly introduce him into the water using only a toy and encouragement. DO NOT give treats in the water!! If he’s comfortable wearing the Watercollar, that’s one less thing to fear. Make the first few swimming sessions, short sessions
(maybe 10 minutes) until he looks completely comfortable.

The Dog Whisperer Watercollar is basically an extension of your dog’s own collar. Most dogs never realize they have on something new. However, we like to say “One NEW thing at a time”! Let your dog wear his new Watercollar around the house for a couple of days before introducing him to water, especially if the dog has never been swimming before now. Bring a ball or floating toy that your dog likes and gently coax him into the water to follow the toy. Please remember we DO NOT recommend using treats in the water. This can be dangerous.

Our primary concern is that the Watercollar does not come off over the dog’s head. The Dog Whisperer Watercollar is designed to hang somewhat loosely from a dog’s collar, but it may be used with a harness, as well. However, please know that the safety of our Watercollar is not assured unless the Watercollar is securely and correctly attached to your dog using a collar.
